Summary of version changes

v12

  • v12 has been fully described in De Smedt et al., 2012.
  • For GOME and SCIAMACHY, one fitting interval is used (328.5-346 nm).
  • For GOME-2, two fitting intervals are used in order to improve the fit of BrO, and reduce the noise on the 2CO columns (328.5-359 nm for BrO, 328.5-346 nm for H2CO).
  • Latitude dependant background normalisation in the reference sector of Pacific Ocean.
  • Surface Albedo: OMI minimum LER at 342 nm (Kleipool et al., 2008).
  • Cloud product: O2 A-band, 760nm, Frescov6 (Wang et al., 2008).
  • A priori profiles: IMAGES v2.12 (Stavrakou et al., 2013) calculated at 09:30am.
  • Level 2 file format: ASCII.

v13

  • v13 is a direct adaptation of v12 to OMI measurements.
  • Such as GOME-2, two fitting intervals are used to fit 2CO columns from OMI, in order to improve the fit of BrO, and reduce the noise on the 2CO columns.
  • An iterative algorithm for removal of spike residuals has been implemented (Richter et al., 2011).
  • The background normalisation is row-dependant for OMI, in order to perform a destriping correction. Based on this, the background correction is now also LoS-dependant for GOME-2.
  • Surface Albedo: OMI minimum LER at 342 nm (Kleipool et al., 2008).
  • GOME-2 cloud product: O2 A-band, 760nm, Frescov6 (Wang et al., 2008).
  • OMI cloud product: O2-O2, 477 nm (Stammes et al., 2008).
  • A priori profiles: IMAGES v2.12 (Stavrakou et al., 2013), calculated at 09:30am/13:30pm.
  • AMF errors are now separated in random/systematic components, such as the scd errors.
  • Quality flag have been defined, and should be used to select the satellite observations.
  • Level 2 file format: HDF5.

v14

  • v14 is an update of v13, applied to GOME-2 and OMI.
  • 3 fitting intervals are now used; with the aim to better take into account the O2-O2 absorption effects.
  • Radiance spectra averaged in the equatorial Pacific are used as DOAS reference spectra for both GOME-2 and OMI.
  • A new version of the IMAGES model (v2.14) is used for the 2CO a priori profile shapes.
